Your new role
As an expandingpany and to meet increasing demand they are seeking experienced Senior Ecologists to join them and support their colleagues on a diverse range of small to medium sized projects across a range of sectors.
The role will provide an opportunity for an individual to demonstrate a broad range of ecological skills by undertaking specialist technical work, whilst working as part of a passionate, integrated, dynamic and friendly team.
Your role will involve project management and implementation of ecological assessments, plus the coordination of associated surveys, consultation and mitigation in support of our clients’ proposals and operations.
You will be involved in managing the technical work of more junior staff and sub-consultants and (depending on experience) managing projects and their direction too. There will also be team leadership opportunities.
The nature of the role and the dynamic of the team provides a wealth of opportunities to explore your interests and carry out a range of tasks and functions within ecology, as well as a range of related disciplines.
What you'll need to succeed
1. In depth knowledge of UK and EU Wildlife Legislation, planning policies, licensing requirements and best practice survey techniques;
2. Leading, planning and co-ordinating field surveys, analysing and interpreting survey results and planning and co-ordinating ecological mitigation works;
3. Minimum Level 1 class survey licence for bats (essential)
4. Experience of the planning system and associated technical processes such as Environmental Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments
5. Experience of writing thorough andplex reports and assessments, such as HRA stages 1 - 4 and Environmental Statement chapters
6. A track-record of successful project management
7. Experience in the preparation of ecology proposals and tenders
8. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) (essential)
9. Excellent written and verbalmunication skills; be able to produce meticulous and accurate technical reports as well asmunicate confidently with a variety of clients and stakeholders
10. Whilst fieldwork skills are needed for this role, there will be a largeponent of office-based coordination, data analysis, client contact and report writing.
