Why Join Sizewell C?
Sizewell C isn’t just a nuclear power station – it’s a vital part of Britain’s clean energy future. By joining our team, you’ll contribute to one of the UK’s most ambitious and exciting infrastructure projects, helping power millions of homes and supporting the transition to net zero.
What is INA?
INA is the internal regulator for the Sizewell C (SZC) project, providing independent oversight across a broad scope of project activities. Our work is risk‑informed, enabling us to support, regulate, inspect and assure activities, arrangements, decision‑making and behaviours across the project. Our mission is to deliver efficient, effective and trusted independent regulation that upholds standards and enables continual improvement throughout the SZC Project.
Your Role
As a Site Inspector within INA’s Independent Site Inspection Team you will take the lead in the independent oversight of site civil engineering activities. You will provide assurance that construction works are being planned and executed in line with approved designs and appropriate standards, while meeting key safety and quality requirements. The role empowers you to challenge gaps, promote best practice, and support high‑quality, safe and compliant delivery. You will engage with the client team, contractors, designers, external regulators and a wide range of stakeholders through site walk‑downs, independent assessments (technical and non‑technical), and observation of key site activities. There will also be opportunities to broaden your skills through involvement in other areas within INA’s remit, such as Environment, Emergency Preparedness, and Security.
Essential Skills & Experience (Technical)
* Degree qualification in Civil Engineering (or closely related discipline).
* Progressing towards or holding Chartered status with the ICE or IStructE.
* Strong knowledge of civil engineering design and construction processes and standards, with an ability to identify risks and propose alternative solutions.
* Ability to interpret construction information (drawings, models, bar‑bending schedules, specifications) and undertake site inspections to assess site conformance with the above.
* Ability to review construction RAMS and undertake site inspections to assess conformance.
* Ability to review design output and confirm alignment with construction information.
* Experience in report writing and the ability to articulate complex issues.
* Construction management experience desirable but not essential.
* Understanding of key CDM responsibilities beneficial.
Non‑Technical
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with others within the INA team and across Sizewell C.
* Willingness and ability to appropriately challenge unsafe behaviours or practices.
* Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Commitment to the highest standards of safety and quality.
