Learning Support Assistant – Burgess Hill Job Title: Learning Support Assistant Location: Burgess Hill Salary: £88.92 - £95 per day Contract Type: Full-Time Start Date: Immediately About the School This welcoming and inclusive school in Burgess Hill provides tailored support for pupils with a range of learning needs, including Autism, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties. Staff work closely together to create a safe and engaging learning environment where pupils feel supported, valued, and motivated to succeed. About the Role As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll work alongside teachers and SEN staff to provide essential classroom and one-to-one support. You’ll play a key role in helping pupils overcome learning barriers, manage behaviour effectively, and engage positively in lessons. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys making a real difference in pupils’ educational and personal development. Responsibilities Support pupils with additional learning needs in both classroom and one-to-one settings Assist teachers with lesson delivery, ensuring activities are accessible and inclusive Encourage independence and confidence through structured guidance and positive reinforcement Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques when needed Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver consistent, high-quality support Assist with personal care tasks where appropriate Qualifications Experience supporting children or young people with SEN or learning difficulties Understanding of individual learning plans and differentiated support Strong communication and behaviour management skills A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children’s development Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
