The Red House Surgery is delighted to offer a part-time position, for an experienced practice nurse within a busy, friendly and supportive NHS GP practice team. Working days can be negotiated.
This post requires an enthusiastic, very organised and friendly person who has the ability to adapt to a variety of duties and who is willing to take on any tasks that may be required to ensure the smooth running of our surgery.
**Experience in practice nursing is essential. We regret that we cannot currently offer training to nurses new to practice nursing.**
Pay is negotiable, pending experience.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, good communication skills, and an ability to work as a team member as well as using own initiative.
This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your clinical skills. The post holder will be a registered nurse with a NMC PIN, and General Practice nursing experience. They will demonstrate a commitment to further learning and development to improve overall health and well being of our patients.

Women's health including cervical screening, contraception and HRT checks
Wound care
Chronic disease management - diabetes and asthma
Ear irrigation.
Smoking cessation advice.

Job responsibilities
The role is to provide high quality nursing services, which includes health promotion, to the practice population in collaboration with the Primary Health Care Team, meeting the needs of the patients and supporting the delivery of the practice policies and procedures. The post holder will work within their professional competence in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice.
1. Professional Responsibilities
To work within NMC Guidelines and to agreed practice protocols
To maintain high standards of clinical practice by ensuring the application of available evidence based research and agreed protocols
To work in collaboration with the Primary Health Care team to address identified individual and population needs
To identify and address own learning needs by participation in the processes of personal professional and practice development planning
To access clinical supervision
To maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records and registers in accordance with practice policy
To maintain confidentiality in accordance with NMC and agreed Practice and Information Governance policy.
2. Clinical Responsibilities to include;
To manage treatment room consultations such as minor injuries, wound dressings and treatment of leg ulcers, suture removal, ear examination and syringing.
Administer routine injections in accordance with the practice policy
1. Childhood and adult immunisations in accordance with national guidelines.
2. Flu vaccinations, travel vaccines and completion of patient vaccination records.
3. Anti-psychotic injections, Vitamin B12 injections and contraceptive injections.
To undertake nurse chronic disease consultations such as diabetes and asthma reviews.
Provide women's health services including cervical cytology and advice on contraception and the menopause according to practice policy.
To undertake investigative procedures including venepuncture and ECG
To prepare and assist with minor surgical procedures
To prepare and assist with the fitting of IUCDs
To prepare and assist with the removal of Implants
To assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff, GPs and Practice Manager.
To be responsible for the assessment of health needs of patients and the provision of care/treatment in conjunction with the GP, other members of the PHCT or independently, undertaken ongoing evaluation of the care/treatment outcomes, modifying practice as necessary and documenting progress.
3. Additional responsibilities
To liaise and refer to other health care professionals, attend and participate in practice meetings on a regular basis, report any areas of concern, prepare purchase orders in conjunction with the admin team for ordering of drugs and clinical supplies.
