Head of Operations

The Role As Head of Operations, you will take ownership of a diverse operational team responsible for delivering essential services to clients, including Procurement, Trading and Risk Management, Bureau (data validation and reporting), and Water.
You’ll lead a team of four department heads and provide strategic direction across the full operational function. Your role will involve driving continuous improvement, managing complex client and supplier relationships, resolving operational challenges, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that align with company standards and values.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will play a key part in enhancing the business’s operational efficiency, introducing new products and services, and supporting its continued success in a competitive marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the main point of contact and escalation within the operations team.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of department heads and operational staff, conducting regular one-to-ones, training plans, and appraisals.
Oversee post-contract support including energy data requests, billing, payments, metering, terminations, and change of tenancy processes.
Maintain strong relationships with energy and water suppliers, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.
Support operational efficiency through CRM systems and third-party software, identifying improvements where possible.
Ensure processes are compliant with ISO 9001 quality frameworks and internal standards.
Produce monthly performance reports and provide insight to the Managing Director and senior leadership team.
Drive continuous improvement in customer experience and operational delivery.
Recommend opportunities for process enhancements, service innovation, and business growth.
Experience and Qualifications
Proven leadership experience within an energy consultancy or a similar operational environment.
Strong understanding of fixed and flexible energy contracts, data validation, and supplier processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams and stakeholders.
Commercially minded, analytical, and solution-driven.
Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experienced with CRM systems.
Strong organisational and multitasking ability with a proactive, hands-on approach.
Experience with water services is advantageous but not essential.
