Housing Technician
Job description
About the role:
Supports the Area Housing Quality Team in delivering asset management services, including inspections of voids, communal areas, footpaths, car parks, and traveller sites. Oversees fire safety checks, water system flushes, garden and garage maintenance, and security of vacant properties. Ensures quality assurance of day-to day repairs, estate management, and grounds maintenance. Manages reactive repairs
and works required for temporary accommodation.
About you:
-Strong technical knowledge and practical experience in building construction, maintenance, and defect identification. -Passion for improving housing quality, particularly within social housing, with a focus
on sustainability and tenant wellbeing. -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-specialists. -Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, including staying updated on construction standards and energy efficiency.

What you will do:
-Support delivery of asset management services across homes, garages, communal areas, traveller sites, and HRA land. -Carry out inspections including pre-termination, post-void, fire safety, and void compliance checks. -Oversee and quality assure day-to-day repairs, estate management, and grounds maintenance. -Manage reactive repairs to garages and temporary accommodation voids. -Conduct cyclical inspections of footpaths and car parks, arranging remedial works. -Maintain accurate records to update the Council’s asset and stock condition databases.
