Job Title: Specialist Teacher (SEND / Complex Needs)
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Specialist Teacher to support pupils with complex needs, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and trauma-related backgrounds. This role requires a compassionate, adaptable professional who is committed to delivering high-quality, inclusive education and making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable learners.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-informed lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of all pupils.
Use assessment data effectively to track progress and adapt teaching strategies.
Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning in line with the school’s behaviour policy and Staff Code of Conduct.
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and specialist staff to ensure effective pupil support.
Requirements:
Proven experience teaching pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
Strong understanding of curriculum delivery, assessment, and behaviour management within special education settings.
Ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate effective teaching and learning.
Commitment to safeguarding, professional conduct, and adherence to the Staff Code of Conduct.
Personal qualities including resilience, empathy, adaptability, and a passion for supporting vulnerable pupils.
QTS/QTLS qualification.
