Overview

Please note this is not a Swansea city council job. You will be working with a private client who received direct payments.

A little about myself: I am a middle-aged lady living at home with my brother in Cockett. I have a severe learning disability. This means that I require a lot of support with all my individual needs. I like to do things on my own terms and can often occupy myself with the activities that are of interest to me. I also enjoy watching what people are doing around me or outside my house, and sometimes have great fun engaging with people in a manner to which I am accustomed.

Driver preferred due to location. Female preferred.


Hours and rate

Hours of work: Flexible hours to be discussed. You will be working with another PA - 2 staff to 1 client.

Rate of pay: £13.13


Essential

* Be female, due to the need for personal care.


Desirable

* You have previous experience.


I’d like support with

* Keeping me safe within my environment;
* Watching for potential dangers;
* Preparing and cooking basic meals;
* Assisting me to eat and drink according to guidelines;
* Helping me with personal care tasks such as washing, changing, and dressing;
* Possibly accompanying me in the community with my brother e.g. to access my day-care service or go for a blood-test;
* Simple everyday domestic activities that result from the care I receive, and maintain a safe and clean environment e.g. putting dirty items in the washing machine, washing and drying dishes, etc.


I will need my PA to

* Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality;
* Be confident, mature and have patience;
* Be dependable and arrive on time;
* Be friendly with an easy-going manner;
* Be adaptable and flexible;
* Be supportive but not take over;
* Have business insurance on your car to take clients out.


Concerning the position

A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
