A fantastic opportunity has
arisen for a Vegetable Gardener to join us part-time at our 4-star Hotel in
Dunkeld.
In addition to offering a salary
of £12.60 per hour, 20 hours a week – flexi time an option, with the
possibility of extended hours during the summer, we provide a fantastic

sits on 280 acres of well-maintained and natural woodland and overlooks the
wide and fast-flowing River Tay. We have 100 bedrooms, gym, spa facilities and
pool and a selection of conference and event facilities to accommodate
weddings, private functions, and business services.
The Role
·
Join us in this fairly new project and
work with our Food & beverage team, ensuring that the Herbs and Vegetable gardens
support our operation.
·
15 raised beds and Polly tunnel the size
of 2 tennis courts offer space to grow seasonal vegetables, herbs and fruits and
surrounding areas are maintained to a high standard and kept clear of leaves,
debris, and litter.

To take the lead in planning seeding and
growing seasonal crops Regular maintenance of the pathways to the Garden
including weeding and periodic raking.

Pruning of shrubs, bushes, and hedges to
maintain shape and promote strong growth.
·
Care and development of ornamental areas
including roses, herbaceous and bedding plants, containers, trees and shrubs,
and nursery areas (herbs and fruit trees especially).

Regular weeding of all planted areas and
periodic treatment where necessary against pests and disease.

Watering of plants
·
Guided tours of the gardens to our hotel
guests
·
Liaising with external organisers of
functions in the Garden to ensure that damage is kept to a minimum and where
necessary rectified as soon as possible.
The Person:
·
Sound knowledge and experience of vegetable,
fruit garden and plant care.
·
Able to identify and name plants which you
have previously worked with.
·
Able to carry out horticultural tasks and
techniques to a high standard.
·
Able to identify pest and diseases and
potential treatments required.
·
Competent in the use of machinery and
tools.
·
Able to carry out routine checks and
maintenance of machinery and tools.
·
Good communication skills with the ability
to communicate effectively to people of all levels.
