Job Title: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Rochester – On-site (work from home ½ day Friday)
Role Type: Permanent
Our client, an established aerospace & defence manufacturing firm in Rochester, requires an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities:
* Prepare and present Mechanical Development Plans, Design Scheme Data Packs, and other engineering details for internal review and customer forums.
* Peer review work of other mechanical engineers, including designs, data, calculations, and reports.
* Chair design review panels at various levels, both internal and customer-facing.
* Develop project plans, lead teams, and monitor progress and budgets.
* Manage resource plans and allocate Mechanical Engineering resources accordingly.
* Support bid estimates and proposal documentation.
* Conduct performance and development reviews and contribute to salary reviews.
* Ensure adherence to departmental and company policies within the Mechanical Team and project teams.
Required experience:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
* Proven product development experience from concept to production.
* Leadership and project management experience.
* Experience with avionic systems, optical displays, mechatronics, electronics packaging, composites, additive manufacturing, and test equipment is advantageous.
* Experience preparing technical datasets (drawings/MBD).
* Proficiency with CAD tools, ideally CREO, and familiarity with TeamCenter, DOORs, and JIRA.
