Offer description

Overview

We have a great opportunity to join our Spelthorne Locality team as an Occupational Therapist. We are looking for individuals who share our values and are motivated to make a significant and positive difference to the lives of our residents. We support hybrid working with a balance of office and home-based work, aiming for full-time staff to be in the office twice a week and part-time staff once a week.

Job responsibilities

Using a strengths-based approach, you will work alongside a variety of adults with differing and/or complex needs who may be elderly and frail, have a learning disability, physical or sensory impairment, or mental ill health. This diverse role will develop your skills to undertake frontline holistic occupational therapy practice within a social care setting. You will assess moving and handling risks and implement interventions to support clients to live meaningful lives in the community. You will collaborate with team members and with other organisations to provide an integrated service to support vulnerable adults and their carers in a community-based setting. The role includes opportunities to work in clients\' homes or in residential settings, with short-term equipment interventions or longer-term work with people with mental health issues, learning disabilities and physical disabilities. You will receive full moving and handling training and have access to our equipment store. Regular supervision is provided, and informal support is available from the wider team. We encourage hybrid working and provide a laptop and mobile phone; you will have control of your diary and time to manage a diverse range of casework.

Offer and benefits

* 26 days' holiday, rising to 28 days after 2 years' service and 31 days after 5 years' service
* Option to buy up to 10 days of additional annual leave
* A generous local government salary-related pension
* Up to 5 days of carer\'s leave and 2 paid volunteering days per year
* Paternity, adoption and dependents leave
* An Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to support health and wellbeing
* Learning and development hub with resources
* Wellbeing and lifestyle discounts including gym, travel, and shopping
* A chance to make a real difference to the lives of our residents

About our team

You will be joining a supportive, caring and committed team that values a good work ethic, honesty and reliability, with the ability to apply sound clinical reasoning to ensure a service we can be proud of. If you are pragmatic, driven and creative, this could be the right environment for you to flourish.

About the role

We emphasise a strengths-based approach and collaboration with clients and other organisations. You will develop frontline OT practice in a social care setting, undertake assessments such as moving and handling risk assessments, and empower clients to live meaningful lives in the community. We also provide full moving and handling training and equipment store access. Regular supervision is provided.

We support hybrid working (you\'ll be given a laptop and mobile phone) and you\'ll manage a diverse range of casework. We have a Senior Readiness Program to help OT staff progress to Senior Occupational Therapists and have won awards for our Smart Working in OT.
