Overview

We are looking for an NHS Locum Consultant Dermatologist to provide a comprehensive dermatology service together with the existing team of Dermatologists, Plastic Surgeons and Specialist Nurses. The Dermatology Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital serves a population of approximately 250,000. The majority of the patients are referred from within West Norfolk with increasing numbers of patients travelling from South Lincolnshire and North Cambridgeshire. The Dermatology unit is based in a purpose built facility which was opened in 1999. The facilities include a dedicated outpatient clinic, surgical suites, photo therapy offering narrow band UVB, patch testing, lower limb assessment, daylight PDT and iontophoresis. Peripheral clinics are held at the North Cambridgeshire Hospital.

The Clinical Nurse manager leads joint working across the Dermatology and Plastic Surgery teams. We have very close links with regional teaching hospitals in Cambridge and Norwich and participate in the monthly regional clinics at these centers. We teach medical students from the University of East Anglia. We are a member of the regional skin MDT and Lymphoma MDT at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Responsibilities

* Work with all members of the team to provide a high quality service.
* Be fully committed to achieving departmental targets to deliver care.
* Assist with the organization of the medical student teaching program.
* Develop and maintain expertise as a medical student tutor.
* Contribute towards the supervision and training for nurses and other junior health professionals within the department.
* Take an active role in the research and development initiatives within the department.
* Take an active role in Clinical Governance, Audit, Skin MDT and Educational Meetings for the Dermatology Department.
* Be aware of the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff and attend all relevant health and safety training.
* Develop leadership skills to support the Dermatology service.
* Carry out responsibilities with due regard to the Trust's Equal Opportunities Policy.
