We are looking for a fixed‑term Energy Advisor to support the Agency’s regulatory role in the energy sector. The role lasts up to 2 years and focuses on combustion plants, waste incineration, and refineries.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert support and technical leadership, delivering advice, guidance and training on regulatory matters.
* Develop strategy for the energy sectors and produce tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
* Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
* Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players.
* Respond to incidents and provide business continuity support during incidents.
* Take part in the Energy & Manufacturing Industries Regulation (E&B) Directorate, leading on definition of sector standards and delivering new duties.
Qualifications
* Experience of working in or regulating the energy sector, including combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries.
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge of emissions control measures.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and encourage diversity issues in the workplace.
* Strong relationship‑building skills with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
* Proven teamwork skills, working cooperatively to achieve common goals.
* Capability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
