Friends for Leisure is a well-established and respected charity local to Cheshire East and based in Congleton. Families come to us when they see that their disabled child is struggling with their social life.
Our goals are:
* To provide everyday leisure activities that other young people take for granted, and from which disabled young people are often excluded.
* To provide opportunities for disabled young people to make friends with each other, and with members of our extensive team of volunteers, 85% of whom are under 25 years old.
* To address issues of attitude and behaviour towards disabled people by providing disability and inclusion workshops in schools, colleges and with other organisations.
The role
We are looking for a new member of staff to fill a key position in the charity. This will be an exceptional opportunity for a talented and driven individual to build new networks and develop new funding streams for the charity; thereby ensuring its financial sustainability.
We expect the fundraiser to work a minimum of 21 hours a week. We are a small team, and all staff work flexible hours to meet the needs of the organisation. There is a requirement for everyone to work at least two thirds of their working time in the office in Congleton.
The fundraiser is directly accountable to the charity manager.
The role offers a competitive salary up to £28,000 p.a. (pro rata). All staff are entitled to annual leave of 26 days per year plus Bank Holidays (pro rata).
Key responsibilities
The fundraiser will be responsible for:
* Building a detailed understanding of all Friends for Leisure projects and developing the charity's fundraising strategy.
* Identifying activities of interest to funders and making the case to donors, trusts and corporate organisations to fund our work.
* Researching, writing and submitting applications for revenue funds to relevant bodies to support our services. This will include local authority tenders.
* Expanding, planning, organising and executing fundraising activity, with support from other staff members, volunteers and trustees.

* Prove their identity and eligibility to work in the UK.
* Plan and organise a varied and busy workload.
* Attend fundraising and other events (possibly outside normal working hours).
* Build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, funders and the wider community.
* Commit to, and work within, the aims, principles and policies of Friends for Leisure.
