Commissioning Manager – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Location: Site-based in Scotland (with occasional flexibility to work from home or office)
Contract: 18-month fixed term, with potential to become permanent
Salary: £90,000 + up to 33% annual bonus

A leading clean energy business is seeking a Commissioning Manager to support the delivery of some of the largest and most advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Europe. This is a key opportunity to contribute to the shift toward net-zero by enabling greater integration of renewable energy.
Lead and manage the full commissioning lifecycle from planning through to operational handover.
Oversee quality control during design and installation phases, ensuring Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) are in place and followed.
Collaborate with contractors to develop detailed commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules.
Supervise the installation and start-up of electrical systems, including batteries, inverters, transformers, switchgear, control and protection systems.
Coordinate BESS commissioning and testing activities with the OEM and National Grid (ESO) control desk.
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (preferred).
Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience commissioning energy infrastructure projects.
Strong technical knowledge of high-voltage (HV) systems, including transformers, switchgear, inverters, protection devices, and SCADA systems.
Experience with BESS projects is highly desirable.
