Our client is looking for a Development Technician to join their growing engineering team, supporting the development, testing, and refinement of innovative structural products used across construction and civil engineering sectors. This is a hands-on, technically focused role that bridges structural design and practical testing. Youll contribute to the development of products used in buildings and infrastructure projectshelping ensure they meet safety, performance, and buildability requirements. From detailed drawings and 3D modelling to prototype testing and quality checks, your work will directly support engineering excellence. Youll be a technically capable and practically minded individual who understands the real-world challenges of building and infrastructure projects. Are you the right person for the job? 2 years of experience in structural, civil, or construction-related environments Strong knowledge of steel structures, connection detailing, and fabrication practices Familiarity with structural design codes (e.g. Eurocode, BS EN 1993) and construction industry standards Hands-on experience using workshop tools and testing equipment Ability to produce, interpret technical drawings for parts and assemblies with bolt and weld joints, produce reports, and follow structured testing procedures HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering CAD proficiency (Inventor and AutoCAD essential); MS Office literacy What will your role look like? Producing accurate fabrication and manufacturing drawings for structural components parts and assemblies. Creating and updating 3D CAD models using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD Supporting the planning and execution of structural tests. Conducting hands-on testing of prototypes, assemblies, and structural systems Assisting with site visits to monitor installation methods and gather feedback from live projects Inspecting designs for compliance with relevant building and infrastructure standards Collaborating with engineers, designers, and quality teams across the UK What can you expect in return?
