Overview
We are seeking a reliable and professional Delivery Driver and General Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods efficiently and safely to various locations, ensuring timely deliveries. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with previous delivery experience or a background in commercial driving, looking to contribute to a dynamic logistics operation. A valid driver's licence and good communication skills are essential for success in this position. When driving is not needed, you will support on our Outdoor Leisure department working with the Department Manager to keep on top of deliveries, maintain the stock levels and actively sell our BBQs and Furniture to our customers.
This role is Monday to Friday 9.00am till 16.30pm on a 35 hour temporary contract to start for 6 months which will be made permanent based on performance.
Duties
* Safely operate company vehicles, including lorries and vans, to deliver goods to clients and distribution centres.
* Plan delivery routes efficiently to optimise time and fuel consumption.
* Load and unload items, often requiring heavy lifting, ensuring items are handled with care.
* Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including delivery logs and paperwork.
* Communicate effectively with dispatch teams and clients regarding delivery schedules or issues.
* Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure safety standards are met.
* Follow all traffic laws and company policies during transportation activities.
* Work stock on the shop floor and maintain levels when getting low.
* Actively sell to interested customer, our BBQs and Furniture.
* Cover the department when the Department Manager is day off.
Qualifications
* Previous experience as a delivery driver or in commercial driving is preferred.
* Valid UK driver's licence, with a clean driving record.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
* Strong communication skills to interact professionally with clients and team members.
* Organised with the ability to manage time effectively under tight schedules.
