Your Purpose
As Senior Electrical Engineer within one of our four business units, you’ll provide engineering technical direction to the discipline engineers in your area, and design support for schemes to ensure all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards. You’ll be responsible for checking and reviewing electrical design deliverables produced by other electrical engineers in the @one Alliance and supply chain to ensure processes and procedures are followed. You’ll coach and mentor junior engineers.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Regularly report to the Principal Engineer.
* Collaborate with Principal Engineer, Portfolio Design Managers and Project Design Managers to capture upcoming project milestones and design review dates.
* Check specifications, schedules, datasheets, drawings, and 3D models to ensure quality, safety, and technical standards are adhered to.
* Coach and mentor junior engineers and less experienced members of the electrical team.
* Review construction site and supply chain design queries and change requests to ensure quick but accurate responses and that the design remains suitable.
* Input into Construction Design Management (CDM) and commissioning strategy meetings.
* Update and collaborate with the Principal Engineer and Design Managers where potential improvements can be implemented.
* Liaise with other departments and project teams regarding design requirements.
* Manage quality through the design workflow review in line with the project timeline.
* Support other leads and discipline engineers to deliver their outputs to time and quality standards.
* Drive sustainability and low carbon designs.
* Drive offsite build, modular construction, and repeatable solutions.
About You
* Engineering, or equivalent, degree or demonstrate a degree-level knowledge through relevant experience; preferably Chartered, or working towards Chartered status.
* Experience of water-sector assets and capital projects is essential.
* Comfortable demonstrating knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
* Experience in leadership, mentoring and coaching of junior engineers.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
Business Units
* Place Based Thinking — manages large, complex projects across multiple catchments and sites, overseeing networks from rising and gravity mains to pumping stations and water recycling centres.
* Water — provides strategic support across the clean water network, planning and delivering capital and infrastructure schemes to ensure hydraulic resilience and efficiency.
* Water Recycling (East and West) — responsible for collection, conveyance and treatment of wastewater across a large network, operating thousands of km of sewerage infrastructure and treatment centres.
