Waste Operations Business Support Assistant - Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council - Antrim Great opportunity to secure immediate work in the Public Sector on a temporary basis - if you come from an environmental / operations background, apply today to find out more! To provide a comprehensive customer care and administrative service as part of the Business Support Team including Waste Management, Fleet, Waste Operations and Sustainability. Provide a high level of internal and external customer service including taking ownership of customer queries and following issues through to completion. Demonstrate a team approach to achieving the objectives of the Waste Management Department through full flexibility in relation to tasks undertaken and demonstrate the ability to carry out multiple tasks at one time. About the role:
1. £14.84 per hour
2. Antrim Civic Centre (other locations may be required)
3. Monday to Friday
4. 37 hours per week
5. Temporary - Up to 4 weeks pending review
What you will be doing:
6. Assume the primary point of contact for all waste enquiries and complaints from
the general public through the call hub which would include:
• Answering queries, reporting issues and taking payments
• Adding new customers to internal systems
• Assisting customers with bulky collection requests
7. Provide face to face services to the general public who request Waste Services at the main reception desk
8. Deal courteously and effectively with Emails, Livechat and Social Media requests from Members of the public, commercial customers, Elected Members, Stakeholders and external agencies including NIHE, Linergy, Roads Service, DEARA.
9. Collaborate and effectively communicate with our Contracted Services Suppliers to ensure the smooth running of all household bin collections and escalate to Line Managers any issues which may need escalated, in a timely manner
What you will need:
10. Minimum 5 GCSE’s (Grades A-C) to include English Language and Maths or equivalent. Consideration may be given to those candidates who do not hold the above academic qualification but who can demonstrate a minimum of 4 year’s relevant experience or clerical experience including
minute taking.
11. A minimum of 2 years’ administrative or clerical experience including minute taking. Experience in a customer service role to include direct customer contact (by phone and in person) and responsibility for dealing with customer complaints and queries
12. Good planning and organisational skills

Effective organisational and time management skills
Ability to work to a high standard with minimum supervision
High degree of discretion and confidentiality
13. Competent in the use of Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
14. A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post
