The Role
As a Senior Heat Pump Engineer, you will take a leading role in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of high-performance heat pump and emitter systems. You’ll ensure all projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction. Alongside your technical duties, you will mentor and support junior members of the installation team, promoting best practices and developing their skills. This role requires a proactive, hands-on professional with strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and excellence.
Responsibilities:
* Leadership & Mentorship: Lead by example and mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance, on-the-job training, and support to maintain high installation and service standards across the team.
* Project Delivery: Manage and execute complex installation and commissioning projects for heat pump and emitter systems, ensuring work is completed on time, to specification, and to the highest quality standards.
* Technical Expertise: Perform and oversee system installations, including underfloor heating, radiator systems, pipework, and associated electrical and plumbing connections.
* Maintenance & Servicing: Conduct planned maintenance, diagnostics, and performance assessments on existing systems to ensure efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
* Troubleshooting & Repairs: Lead fault-finding and repair work on electrical and plumbing issues, providing expert solutions and preventing recurring problems.
* Quality & Compliance: Uphold company and regulatory standards, ensuring all work is documented accurately, inspected thoroughly, and meets required performance benchmarks.
* Health & Safety Leadership: Champion safe working practices, conduct risk assessments, and ensure all team members adhere to relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Client Relations: Manage client interactions professionally, providing clear communication, technical explanations, and confident handovers to achieve zero callbacks or complaints.
* Project Coordination: Work closely with project coordinators to plan resources, manage schedules, and ensure timely delivery of parts, materials, and project milestones.
* Team Collaboration: Foster a positive, solutions-focused team environment that encourages continuous improvement, accountability, and pride in workmanship.
What we’re looking for:
* Experience: 3–5 years of experience installing heat pump heating systems in domestic properties.
* Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Team Player: Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
* Safety Commitment: Adhere to safe working practices.
* Positive Attitude: Display enthusiasm and a positive mental attitude.
* Flexibility: Exhibit patience and a proactive approach.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of Level 2 Plumbing, Heating or Heat Pump qualification from a recognised awarding body (i.e. City & Guilds, SVQ etc.)
* Relevant Certificates: Completion of Heat Pump manufacturer installation courses
* National Certification for Unvented Hot Water Systems: G3 (unvented cylinder) qualification OR proven experience
* Water Regs WRAS Qualifications
* CSCS or Similar H&S Qualification: Holding a CSCS card or equivalent health and safety qualification, indicating knowledge of site safety protocols.
Extra Credit:
* BPEC (or equivalent) GSHP or ASHP qualification.
* Low Temperature Heating Systems qualification
* F-Gas Certification Training: Completion of training programs that provide essential skills and knowledge for working with refrigeration systems and handling refrigerants safely.
* Gas Safety Registration (if applicable, e.g., Gas Safe Register)
