We’re currently looking to recruit an Occupational Therapist to join our therapy team. You will be responsible for supporting the development of the Occupational Therapy service to provide high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to children and young people within a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school setting. The post holder will provide Occupational Therapy services in response to needs identified by assessment and as set out as part of a Statement of Special Educational Needs or Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The post holder will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) to support pupils' functional, sensory, and motor development, enabling greater independence and access to learning.
Part of the Aurora Group, Aurora Eccles and White House Schools in Quidenham, Norwich provides day placements for students aged 5 to years primarily with communication and interaction difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Some may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and difficulties that create barriers to learning.
With small classes, typically 7 children and a minimum of 3 staff per class you can focus on the needs of each student. There is a full clinical team onsite to support at all times and you will have the support of an experienced and stable SLT.

Key Duties:
1. Support the Occupational Therapy Service to run in an efficient manner so that the needs of the students are met effectively
2. Take a clinical role in the assessment, planning, delivery, and reviewing of Occupational Therapy intervention options for children experiencing a variety of Special Educational Needs
3. Contribute to and participate in assessment of the occupational, functional and sensory limitations of children within their academic and wider settings
4. Monitor progress, evaluate interventions, and adjust treatment plans accordingly
5. Develop and implement individualised therapy plans in collaboration with teaching staff, families, and other professionals, as outlined within the child's EHCP and identified through Occupational Therapy assessment
6. Contribute to the design and delivery of group interventions based around sensory motor intervention, emotional regulation, life skills and fine/gross motor skills
7. Support transition planning for students moving between schools and higher education
8. Conduct environmental assessments to identify barriers to participation
9. Work collaboratively with the child, their support network, and other agencies, to effectively communicate the needs of the child and how these needs can be best met
10. Manage a caseload under supervision of a Specialist/Advanced Occupational Therapist as directed by Occupational Therapy Lead, Clinical Lead and Principal
11. Collect and maintain accurate data collection for service evaluation and audit purposes
12. Maintain independently clear written or electronic records or reports of intervention using agreed protocols and in line with the code of professional conduct and HCPC /RCOT standards
13. Write reports demonstrating clinical reasoning skills that are based on the analysis of findings from the assessments carried out within a specific time frame
14. Ensure compliance with school policies, regulations and protocols
15. Contribute to research and evidence-based practice initiatives within the service

Qualifications
16. Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
17. A recognised degree in Occupational Therapy
Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have:
18. Knowledge of (including placements) working with children and/or young people with a range of neurodevelopmental needs
19. Knowledge of assessment and therapeutic approaches relevant to children with sensory, motor, and functional difficulties.
20. Knowledge or experience of National Curriculum and school settings, delivering OT provision through the EHCP process
21. Knowledge of legislation relevant to Occupational Therapy, education and social care
22. Thorough understanding of child protection procedures, health and safety protocols, manual handling regulations, and duty of care responsibilities
Skills
23. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to produce comprehensive clinical reports and assessments
24. Excellent organisational and time management skills
25. Supportive, flexible and resilient in adapting to dynamic educational environments and changing student needs.
26. Creative problem-solving abilities with innovative approaches to designing and implementing intervention
27. Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration across education and multidisciplinary teams

Experience
29. Experience (including placements) working with children and/or young people with a range of neurodevelopmental needs
30. Previous experience in an Occupational Therapist role, preferably with children and young adults but new graduates will also be considered for the role.
Due to the rural location of the school, candidates are strongly advised to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.
