Compliance Investigator - Aviation MRO Excellence
Hours: 37.5 per week Contract Type: Full-time Location: Oxford (with travel to sites across the UK) Hybrid 3 days a week on site

Role Overview
The Compliance Investigator plays a critical role in maintaining regulatory and operational compliance within a Helicopter Maintenance Repair Organization (MRO). Based in Oxford, this position is responsible for conducting in-depth investigations into compliance-related issues, identifying root causes, and driving corrective and preventive actions. The role ensures that operational practices align with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations into compliance-related incidents, discrepancies, and safety concerns, including MEDA investigations when required.
Root Cause Analysis: Apply methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and Fault Tree Analysis to uncover underlying issues, including human factors and performance limitations.
Regulatory Assurance: Ensure adherence to UK CAA/EASA Part 145, CAMO, Part 21 G, MAA MRP145/MIL CAMO, and company-specific standards.
Audit & Inspection: Partner with Quality Assurance teams to strengthen audit processes and support regulatory reviews.
Process Improvement: Collaborate across engineering, production, and safety teams to enhance efficiency, mitigate risks, and embed best practices.
Reporting & Engagement: Deliver clear, actionable investigation reports to senior management and regulatory bodies, while fostering compliance awareness across all stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
Proven experience in compliance investigations within aviation maintenance or aerospace.
Expertise in Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
Strong knowledge of EASA Part 145, UK CAA regulations, and industry safety standards.
Understanding of human factors and performance limitations.
Skilled in audits, inspections, and technical documentation analysis.
Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation abilities.
Proficiency with compliance monitoring tools, QMS, and data analysis software.
Desirable:
Experience in Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement.
MEDA investigation expertise.
Knowledge of CAMO, Part 21 G, MAA regulations, ISO 9001, AS 9100.
Aviation Auditor or SMS certification.
Strong interpersonal skills to engage with technicians, engineers, and leadership alike.
Education & Requirements
Formal training in Root Cause Analysis and investigative techniques.
Security Clearance (SC) or ability to obtain it.
DBS Security Clearance required.
Must meet Export Compliance Regulation requirements.
Bonus Qualifications:
Aviation Safety Management Systems certification.
Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
Extensive compliance, investigation, or audit experience in aviation maintenance.
