HGV Driver/Refuse Team Leader
Join a dedicated team maintaining parks, playing fields, landscaped areas, and public open spaces across the Borough.
As a key member of the Outdoor Spaces Maintenance Team, you’ll carry out a range of both basic and skilled horticultural tasks — either individually or as part of a team. You'll help ensure our green spaces, sports facilities, play areas, and amenity buildings are kept to a high standard.
About the role:
1. £13.68 per hour
2. 2 posts available
3. Location: Will be required to work across Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon areas
4. Hours of Work: 37 hours per week (can be flexible)
5. Holiday pay (pro rata)
6. Duration: 3 and 6 month contracts
Duties:
7. Drive and manoeuvre the vehicle to the collection points of all refuse containers. Depending on operations either: Empty contents of the vehicle at the landfill site or the Community Recycling Centre
8. Drive vehicle to landfill site, composting or recycling plants as appropriate and offload contents in accordance with procedures in place at the relevant facilities.
9. Supervision of assigned operatives. Ensure that assigned operatives fulfil their duties in full and in accordance with established procedures.
10. Ensure the safety and security of the waste collection vehicle and carry out checks each morning using the relevant check sheet and report any defects or damage to the vehicle to the Mechanics/Operations Supervisor.
11. Wash the vehicle externally each week and ensure the interior is adequately cleaned between bin collections to avoid contamination of loads that are consigned to the composting facility.
Criteria:
12. Valid DVTA Driver Qualification Card; Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
13. 1 year’s relevant experience in driving Category C vehicles
14. 1 year’s relevant experience in operating mechanical lifting equipment/hoist;
15. 1 year’s relevant experience dealing with the public in a customer service capacity;
16. 1 year’s relevant experience completing accurate records of scheduled and completed work.
17. Full current driving licence (valid in the UK) including entitlement to drive Category C vehicles (over 3500kg).
