Description
Champion the provision of a high-quality proactive People service, to the College and any subsidiary companies, which is focused on supporting managers, departments and staff to achieve outcomes based on the provision of a quality service to students and is in line with the vision, purpose, priorities and objectives of the College.
Overview
Provide a high-quality People service that supports business planning, employee relations, policy compliance and continuous improvement across the College.
Main Responsibilities and Duties
* Work in partnership with senior managers to deliver College and departmental business strategy and objectives by providing a People consultancy and advisory service on issues affecting staff and the terms of their employment with the College, supporting business planning processes, analysing management information to ensure an effective People service for departments throughout the College.
* Ensure managers are effectively addressing employee relations issues by developing business‑focused plans and engaging People Team colleagues to deliver operational support for a high-quality proactive People service.
* Provide expert advice, guidance and interpretation of employment law and conditions of service for all managers and staff, promoting consistent application of local employment policies and practices across the College.
* Undertake People projects and assignments as required.
* Manage the local provision of an effective attendance management system, holding case conferences, liaising with Occupational Health and other stakeholders to achieve swift resolution of cases and promote attendance.
* Coordinate recruitment activity, working with managers to improve applicant quality and appointments, advising on procedures to ensure consistent methods and timely staffing.
* Identify measures to improve capability and support the development of performance, productivity and engagement metrics; monitor and review progress to improve teaching quality for students.
* Apply performance management and capability processes as appropriate to support improvement initiatives.
* Promote and support change management processes, consulting with trade unions and engaging managers and staff to address development and contractual issues; manage redeployment as necessary.
* Revise and develop employment policies, guidance, procedures, and processes to ensure legal compliance and best employment practices; assist with development of the People database and online services.
* Undertake job analysis and design of new and revised roles, skills audits and standards to support reward, staff development and succession planning.
* Develop and oversee plans to improve people management skills of managers, designing and delivering staff development programmes including sickness absence, grievance and recruitment and selection; support Learning & Development as required.
