Background

The Quality and Risk team are based in our award‑winning Cardiff office and manage the quality, risk and compliance functions within the firm.

We’re looking for a hands‑on Quality & Standards Manager to lead our Quality Team, oversee our internal audit programme and champion continuous improvement across the firm.

Reporting directly to the Chief Quality & Governance Officer, you’ll ensure our Quality and Environmental Management Systems remain effective and compliant and help the business adapt to regulatory and industry change.


The role

* Maintain accreditations & compliance; Safeguard and continually improve our QMS and EMS to meet ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Lexcel, SRA Standards and Regulations, and UK GDPR and other relevant regulations.
* Lead the Quality Team & audit programme; Manage the Internal audit team and, in collaboration with the firm’s internal auditor, plan and oversee the internal audit schedule; coordinate findings, CAPA actions and effectiveness reviews; prepare the firm for external assessments.
* Policies & procedures ownership; Maintain the firm’s Policies & Procedures Manual, ensuring clear version control, timely updates, and effective firm‑wide communication.
* Process improvement; Drive practical improvements to the firm’s policies, procedures and processes that reduce waste and increase efficiency, recommending QMS changes for approval.
* Risk, incidents & breaches; Own investigations into quality or compliance breaches; analyse root causes, recommend preventive actions, and report outcomes to the CQGO.
* Training & communications; Coordinate training with L&D and deliver targeted input where needed; issue firm‑wide bulletins and guidance on quality, environmental and compliance matters.
* Data, MI & reporting; Analyse quality/compliance data and contribute to departmental MI and dashboards for the CQGO; help define KPIs (e.g., audit completion %, CAPA closure time, complaints trends, training compliance %).
* Tenders & supplier due diligence; Provide quality/compliance input for client tenders; assist with supplier due diligence and ongoing monitoring.
* Collaborate across central services; Work closely with IT and Information Security, the Data Protection Officer, Accounts Department and other central teams.


Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have demonstrable knowledge/experience in a quality or compliance role in a professional services environment.

Strong organisation, IT and time‑management skills are required along with the ability to deliver high quality work during busy times.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required as well as the ability to build strong relationships with key personnel around the firm.

The ideal candidate will have working experience of ISO 9001, ISO 14001. Working experience of lean principles applied in an office environment is also desirable.

An understanding of the legal environment, Lexcel and the SRA Standards and Regulations will be a distinct advantage, along with working knowledge of GDPR and Money Laundering Regulations.
