An outstanding job opportunity has arisen for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to work in a brand new residential service based in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. The service is nurse‑led and focuses on supporting adults with enduring mental health conditions who no longer require hospital‑level care.
To be considered for this position you must hold a (CCT) or equivalent in Psychiatry, and be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practice in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Take clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.
Operate as the Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
Supervise the referral and admission process, including contributing to pre‑admission assessments of young people with other team members.
Offer a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in the assessment, formulation and treatment of adults.
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience managing complex mental health conditions in NHS or equivalent settings.
Demonstrated clinical excellence and strong leadership within multidisciplinary teams.
Solid knowledge of NHS standards, guidelines such as NICE, and relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act.
Proven expertise in psychopharmacology, risk assessment, and evidence‑based treatment approaches.
Excellent communication, teamwork and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Experience contributing to clinical audits, service development and training.
