At Tesco, we pick and deliver over 40m cases a week for our customers. Supplying stock to our stores and fulfilment centres. We are always looking for ways to serve our customers a little better every day, whether that is by improving the way we pick our stock to how it arrives in store. As a Project Manager, you will be leading the deployment of continuous improvement methodology and supporting change culture throughout Distribution. For this role applicants must drive, have access to a vehicle, and have willingness to travel to Tesco Distribution Centres around the UK. Time will be spent in our Tesco Distribution Centres as required each week dependent on the project’s needs. Time will also be spent in our office locations. Working within Distribution to manage streams of work designed to support, improve and transform our Distribution Centre operating model ensuring we always serve customers, communities, and planet a little better every day. Be agile in your approach, responsible for full project management and delivery, from conception to deployment; working across our operational areas as required. Ensuring clear definition of the project and scope from the start, ensuring the project always remains on track and in scope. Engaging with stakeholders across Tesco, and externally, to deliver the project objectives and deliver measurable improvements. Crafting clear implementation plans and timelines and communicating these effectively. Plan and oversee projects, coordinating resources and processes to deliver results on time, within budget and with the desired outcomes. Prioritising and engaging with the relevant subject matter experts, leading and motivation them to contribute to project delivery. Managing, reporting, and mitigating risks and issues and following governance processes. Driving delivery and regularly updating collaborators and leaders on progress and results. Taking ownership of processes and systems, making sure they are effective and efficient; you spot issues and swiftly find the best simplest solutions. Understanding how technology is key to the future of Tesco, making sure digital is part of key decisions. Closing projects down once complete and completing post implementation reviews, to understand the lessons learned, sharing these with stakeholders and ensuring continuous improvements on ‘the what’ and ‘the how’ is in place. Project Management experience, ideally in a Retail, Logistics, Distribution, Ecommerce, or similar environment e.g., Manufacturing, Engineering. Experience delivering successful high-value large-scale complex projects from inception to completion. To be confident delivering multiple projects simultaneously. To be a self-starter and comfortable working independently, as well as part of a team. Exceptional stakeholder management ability, with experience managing complex networks. Excellent time management and prioritisation skills are necessary to navigate changing environments whilst keeping focus on project aims. Excellent communication and storytelling skills (written and verbal), with the ability to challenge and influence others to achieve the project outcomes. Excellent stakeholder management skills across all business grades. Self-motivated with a clear sense of ownership and an ability to follow through tenaciously to resolve issues. Desirable: Strong understanding of Logistics/Warehousing processes and Continuous Improvement Methodology. Strong financial acumen, with experience of identifying and sizing business opportunities, creating business cases, and budget management to optimise resources. Ability to think strategically allied with a practical approach to execution. An ability to cultivate others thinking over giving answers. Strong analytical skills, proficiency working with various data sets to reach informed decisions at pace. Experience of project management tools and methodologies. Preferably qualified in APM, Prince2 or similar certification. Ability to bridge between strategic thinking and pragmatic implementation.
