Job Overview
We are seeking an in‑house counsel to support the G10 Rates, Markets Treasury and Finance, Equity securities lending, and Private Assets businesses globally. The role involves negotiating, reviewing, and analysing legal documentation related to derivatives, repurchase, and securities lending transactions.
Responsibilities
* Provide legal counsel to the supported businesses, participate in strategic initiatives, and advise business management on legal matters impacting the business.
* Partner with legal peers to evaluate business proposals using institutional knowledge, risk appetite, and regulatory guidelines.
* Collaborate across lines of business, control/support functions, and external counsel on matters of common interest; coordinate closely with the Legal team regionally and globally.
* Participate in legal documentation initiatives and contribute to business objectives by providing thought leadership.
* Proactively identify and manage legal, regulatory, and reputational risk, collaborating with ICRM & Risk and following relevant legal developments.
* Act as an escalation point within the Belfast Markets Legal Team on derivatives, repurchase, and securities lending transactions; familiarity with ISDAs, GMRAs, and GMSLAs is preferred.
* Monitor management of complex legal issues and transactions across the supported businesses.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of process improvements.
Qualifications
* Qualified lawyer.
* Relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services, including banking or financial industry experience.
* Knowledge of international laws, regulations, and practices, with awareness of the regulatory/legal environment, internal policies, and industry trends.
* Experience with complex deals, demonstrated ability to analyse issues and develop legal solutions. Familiarity with ISDAs, GMRAs, and GMSLAs is highly preferred.
* Effective communication, negotiation, interpersonal, organisational, and relationship‑management skills.
* Proven ability to exercise sound judgement while managing assignments in a demanding, fast‑paced environment.
