We are seeking a talented and motivated Furniture & Interiors Designer / Sales Professional to join our growing bespoke furniture business. This is a creative, customer-facing role selling high-quality bespoke furniture solutions.
This position is being created to provide maternity cover for our Lead Designer, with the successful candidate taking responsibility for running the design and sales function during her absence.
The role will begin as maternity cover but is intended to become a permanent senior position within the business. Once the Lead Designer returns, you will continue to play a key role in supporting her and helping to drive the department forward.
Department leadership (During maternity leave)
To maintain continuity of customer service, sales performance, and project delivery
To act as the senior point of contact for clients, suppliers, and internal colleagues
To continue as a senior designer and key team member once the Lead Designer returns
This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing position combining design expertise, sales responsibility, and departmental leadership within a small but ambitious business.
You will guide clients from initial enquiry through to final design, quotation and order,
Skills & Experience Required
* Previous experience in bespoke kitchen or fitted furniture design and sales
* Strong sales ability with a proven track record of meeting targets
* Minimum 5 years’ experience using AutoCAD, SketchUp and Photoshop
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to build rapport with a wide range of clients
* An understanding of construction methods and general industry standards
* Meet customers on site, including designers, builders, architects or end users, to understand and deliver their requirements
* Build strong client relationships, developing trust and long‑term confidence
* Manage customer enquiries from first contact through to completed sale and key project milestones
* Identify opportunities to upsell
* Achieve and exceed personal sales targets
* Follow up leads, quotations and outstanding enquiries
* Deliver a premium customer experience at every stage of the journey
Design & Project Development
* Design bespoke kitchens and fitted furniture solutions using AUTOCAD
* Conduct home visits to measure spaces and discuss client requirements
* Create innovative and specification‑compliant design concepts
* Produce 3D visualisation packages in SKU, refined in PS
* Present designs confidently and professionally to clients
* Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure designs are practical and achievable
Project Coordination
* Liaise with project managers to ensure a smooth handover from design to installation
* Liaise with appliance, hardware and worktop suppliers to ensure accurate costings and requirements are provided
