Design Engineer - Early‑Career role with Cable and Overhead Line experience.
We are excited to bring on a motivated early‑career Design Engineer (or someone with 1‑2 years of relevant experience) to focus primarily on distribution cable system up to including 33kV, while gaining hands‑on exposure to overhead line design.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone fresh to the power‑industry or just starting out — who is eager to learn, grow quickly, and build a strong foundation in real energy projects. We will provide top‑up training, mentorship, and support so you can take increasing ownership from day one and develop into a well‑rounded designer in cables and overhead lines.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead full‑cycle design of cable systems and overhead lines: from feasibility studies, surveys, and route assessments to detailed drawings, updates and design approvals.
* Create, modify, and maintain designs/drawings using AutoCAD and GIS tools to meet client specifications, manufacturing requirements, CDM regulations, industry standards and HSEQ needs.
* Help manage multiple projects, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget, high quality delivery.
* Conduct technical studies and ensure compliance with health & safety principles throughout the design process.
* Champion safe, innovative and efficient solutions that support project success in distribution infrastructure.
What we are looking for:
* HNC/HND or relevant technical degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
* AutoCAD experience.
* GIS experience.
* Basic to intermediate experience in cable design and studies for distribution networks, including aspects like cable routing, sizing/ampacity calculations, thermal ratings, load flow/short‑circuit considerations, pulling tensions, bending radii, or similar.
* Basic to intermediate exposure to overhead line design and studies for distribution networks, including sag‑tension calculations, clearances, structural/pole loading, grounding or similar.
* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
* A genuine eagerness to learn, adapt quickly and grow. This role is perfect if you are motivated by technical challenges and want structures development in a team of industry experts.
