Overview Of The Role
Owing to the expansion of our Environment and Water portfolio we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join us on a permanent basis. The successful applicant will exhibit a keen enthusiasm for collaborating with our client teams to ensure the successful delivery of their complex projects on schedule, within budget, and to high-quality standards, while upholding a strong commitment to safety. This exceptional opportunity provides the successful candidate with exposure to complex infrastructure projects in the UK.
Location: Reading, Brighton, London, Cambridge, Bristol (permanent)
What you will contribute to the team
* Ensuring robust estimates are provided that are aligned to scope and make due allowance for all risks and opportunities
* Managing commercial inputs to the procurement process including ensuring that strategies are developed and agreed
* Contracts are properly managed and administered in accordance with contract requirements including compliance with all responses to communications, payments, programme submissions etc
* Ensuring robust cost management is undertaken at all times, taking a proactive approach, providing solutions with a ‘can do’ attitude
* Ownership of accurate commercial reporting
* Proactive management of project and programme risk including ensuring that mitigation plans are in place and implemented
* Development of strong client relationships across its organisation
* Supporting internal business development initiatives
Required for the position of Senior Quantity Surveyor
* Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS)
* Extensive experience with NEC4 Contracts
* Skilled in prioritizing tasks and performing well under pressure
* Capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and colleagues
* Exceptional presentation and communication abilities
* Flexible and adaptable in approach to work
* Technically and commercially proficient, delivering comprehensive pre and post contract services
* Strong problem-solving and advisory skills
* Proactive and self-motivated
* Effective team management capabilities
* Able to make well-reasoned, timely decisions considering the needs of the situation, clients, and team members
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Knowledge and expertise of projects within the Environment /water/waste water industry sector
Preferred, but not required
* Experience of working on flood risk management projects

Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers project, programme & commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across the built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care sectors. APD delivers services to projects up to £20bn, through the disciplines of programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, health and care management.
Environment & water
Our multidisciplinary experts help water, wastewater, and government organisations find sustainable, cost-effective solutions to the challenges of climate change, net-zero, water scarcity and environmental protection. We work with around half of the UK’s regulated water and wastewater companies, and our work covers the entire project lifecycle from pre-contract cost estimating to post-contract quantity surveying and commercial assurance. For project and programme management, we deliver capital projects ranging from several hundred thousand pounds to major projects and programmes worth over £0.5bn.
