The Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department is looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Consultant in Otolaryngology with a specific interest in paediatric ENT to join our expanding team.
* Join an enthusiastic Paediatric ENT team providing care to a large population across East Hampshire and West Sussex, including airway services for the level three NICU on site.
* Undertake Paediatric ENT clinics and theatre sessions.
* Participate in the Acute ENT on-call rota.
* Be an enthusiastic and motivated colleague.
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
* Entry on the GMC specialist register via CCT (proposed date must be within 6 months), CESR, or European Community Rights.
* FRCS (ORL-HNS) or equivalent.
* Specific interest in paediatric ENT, preferably with paediatric ENT fellowship training.

Main duties of the job
Queen Alexandra Hospital is a large, modern acute medical facility with a dedicated Children's Hospital Wing within the main hospital, state-of-the-art ITU, and a large theatre complex. The ENT Department provides a comprehensive range of emergency and elective ENT services, including Paediatric ENT (such as intracapsular Coblation adenotonsillectomy, laryngotracheobronchoscopy, congenital neck and ear anomaly treatment, and a dedicated paediatric voice clinic), Otology (cochlear implantation, bone-anchored hearing aids, middle ear prostheses), Rhinology (including image-guided FESS), Head and Neck (including cancer surgery, free flap reconstruction, endocrine surgery), Facial Plastic and Skull Base Surgery.
Paediatric patients are cared for on the surgical paediatric ward A8 within the Children's Hospital Wing. There is a new dedicated Head & Neck Unit for adult inpatients with a same-day emergency care service. Additionally, there is a Theatre Admission Unit and Day Case Surgery Unit located next to the main theatre complex. The hospital also benefits from a large audiology department staffed by two Consultants in Audiovestibular Medicine.
The post will be based at Queen Alexandra Hospital, ENT Department, with possible visiting roles to peripheral outpatient sites across Southeast Hampshire and West Sussex.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
* FRCS (ORL-HNS) or equivalent.
* Entry on the specialist register for otolaryngology.
* International or National Head and Neck fellowship.
Experience
* Entry on the GMC register via CCT (proposed date within 6 months), CESR, or European Community Rights.
* Good experience in general ENT and surgery.
* A specialist interest in Paediatric ENT.
