Specialty Doctor in Respiratory Medicine
The closing date is 25 November 2025
We wish to appoint a Specialty Doctor in Respiratory Medicine to a new post. The post-holder will work primarily with the Respiratory team at St Richard's Hospital.
The post-holder will be required to undertake routine work on the respiratory ward supporting junior staff under the supervision of the Consultant respiratory physicians.
In addition, there will be regular out‑patient clinics to help support increasing demand. These are specialty respiratory clinics that will be supervised by a Respiratory Consultant with a mixture of new and follow‑up patients and will allow the post holder to further develop their speciality skills.
Furthermore, there are 1‑2 pleural lists per week which the post holder will be supervised in.
The post would suit a junior doctor who would like to either maintain or develop a degree of sub‑specialisation and would be a great opportunity to gain additional experience before applying for a higher specialty training post. The post will be employed on the Specialty Doctor terms and conditions. In addition to the ward‑based work the post-holder will be responsible for planning and interpretation of investigations, dealing with results and the administration generated by the clinic.
We are an approachable team and would see this as a good opportunity for clinical development. We would continue to support educational development and provide educational supervision.
Main duties of the job
The clinical duties of the post include the following:
* Providing Middle grade support and agreed outlier areas
* Planning and interpretation of investigations
* Dealing with administration
* Seeing and discussing ward referrals
This is a role that will allow the post holder to develop further clinical skills, gain further experience in team leadership and communication and provide a focus to improve patient care and continuity.
On Call Commitment: To be discussed participation in Registrar full shift rota pattern (up to 50% on call commitment)
