The Financial Assistant is focused on financial administration and reports directly to the Head of Finance with secondary line management from the local Financial Controller and Office Manager. Supports the global and local Finance team and Management in all financial administration matters. Responsible for assisting with the UK office’s bookkeeping.
Location: Manchester
This is a full-time in office role. The office is located next to Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester.
Responsibilities:
1. Answer email inquiries for MDPI Author Services and verify the accuracy of invoices by checking word counts.
2. Prepare external and financial applications such as expense approval.
3. Perform the initial check on requested travel and other reimbursements.
4. Complete the internal bookkeeping for daily transactions.
5. File and record invoices.
6. Book hotels, flights, etc., for business travel to ensure the most cost-effective purchase.
7. Assist with the preparation of transfer pricing, monthly cost files, transfer files, and monthly internal transfer invoices.
8. Assist with the monthly accounts reconciliation and checks including cost files.
9. Assist with the preparation of local, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings for MDPI UK VAT return, corporation tax, and P11D form.
10. Assist with the preparation of month-end and year-end UK office financial statements.
11. Assist with procurement and obtaining service and other quotations for purchases as needed.
12. Assist in conducting internal audits.
Ad-hoc financial tasks which may be given from time to time.
Qualification:
13. Educational background: Bachelor degree (finance/accounting/administrative)
14. General Work Experience: 1 – 2 years’ experience in finance and accounting preferred
Skills: accounting, knowledge of accounting software, advanced MS Office knowledge, strong numeracy, attention to detail, excellent written and spoken English.
Preferable: Speaks Mandarin
