As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase, you will lead a technical area within the Commercial and Investment Banking Payments Technology team, driving impact across departments. Utilize your deep knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to manage multiple complex projects and initiatives, serving as a primary decision-maker and fostering innovation and solution delivery.
In this role, you will promote impactful changes, manage projects, and be a catalyst for innovation. JPMorgan Chase processes payments averaging $10 trillion, with ongoing innovations like JP Coin, expansion into new markets, and real-time settlement enhancements. As regulations evolve, advanced technologies are crucial to maintain or boost business momentum.

This role is based in the dynamic EMEA region, requiring a blend of business understanding across jurisdictions and sustainable technology solutions. You will lead a team of 25+ professionals, including 3-4 direct-report managers, driving innovation and excellence. Job Responsibilities
1. Lead technology and process implementations to achieve functional objectives.
2. Be accountable for decisions affecting resources, budgets, operations, and process execution.
3. Maintain governance over coding decisions, control obligations, and success measures like cost of ownership and maintainability.
4. Deliver technical solutions applicable across multiple businesses and domains.
5. Influence peers and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.
6. Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect within the firm.
7. Possess deep expertise in cloud implementations and security controls.
8. Adopt newer technologies including AI and ML.
9. Implement reliable platforms with high availability (three nines or more).
10. Maintain a problem-solving mindset.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
* Formal training or certification in software engineering and extensive applied experience.
* Experience leading cross-functional technologist teams.
* Proven ability in hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
* Experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
* Practical cloud-native development experience.
* Expertise in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.
* Deep knowledge of Pyspark, AWS Cloud, Databricks, Java.
* Experience in implementing scaled platforms.
* Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
* Hands-on coding experience.
* Understanding of EMEA regulations.
* Adept at working across multiple time zones.
* Subject matter expertise in Payments.
* Masters or Ph.D. in software or data engineering disciplines preferred.
