Title: Site ChemistLocation: SomersetSalary: £28,000 - £38,000 Depending on experience Term: Maternity cover likely 12 Month temporary Contract with the potential to be taken on permanent SRG are working with a leading waste management and recycling company who have a long and very successful history of supporting the UK chemical industry. They are now looking for a site chemist to join the team. This is a hands-on role within the waste industry, you will be checking and testing incoming loads, processing hazardous and non-hazardous waste, insuring segregation and storage of hazardous waste meets requirements, labelling waste and completing documents on all incoming and outgoing chemical materials. This role would suit candidates with prior industrial experience within the waste industry.Working Hours: 37.5 working hours per week, Monday to Friday, 24 days holiday + statutory bank holidays. Role/DescriptionReceiving chemical waste onto site from industrial and commercial sitesEnsuring paperwork for incoming waste is compliant and correctly completedImmediate testing of incoming waste to ensure conformity with paperwork using test stripsFurther laboratory testing as needed for further analysis using techniques including flash point testing, pH testing, visual checks, odour, viscosity.Working alongside site operatives to ensure that waste is processed, stored and transferred in a safe, compliant and timely mannerAssisting with the control of material flows through the site and ensuring container stocks are maintained to avoid delays and backlogsBulking/re-packing of waste to achieve maximum profitabilitySupporting site chemists and operatives, ensuring all staff are working efficiently and collaborativelyRunning morning briefings and reporting to delegate and distribute activity accordinglyAssist with site compliance and health and safety requirements and their strict adherenceRequirementsMinimum HND in Chemistry, or similar qualification with significant chemistry contentIndustrial experience in the chemical or waste industryAny of the following qualifications or experience are considered advantageous: COTC, WAMITAB, NEBOSH, IOSHWilling to work outside in all weathersGood work ethic, hands-on approach and a willingness to learnFull right to work in the UK – There is no sponsorship available for this role
