Overview
This volunteer role supports the Alzheimer’s Society Coventry team in delivering a range of activity, support and information groups for people living with dementia. The focus is to enable participants to share their experiences, have a voice, and influence work that affects their lives.
Responsibilities
* Help to set up the room and tidy away at the end of the group, and prepare and hand out refreshments.
* Welcome attendees, talk with people living with dementia, and assist them to engage in Involvement activities. If supporting an online group, help participants join the conversation.
* Carry out light administration duties as needed (e.g., registering attendees, taking meeting notes).
* Support the Dementia-Friendly Focus Group held at the Community Dementia Partnership Hub Coventry CV64DT on the 3rd Thursday each month from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm.
* Be part of a team of volunteers who help support Alzheimer’s Society Coventry in delivering activities, support and information groups.
Qualifications and attributes
* Are aware of or are interested in learning about dementia and its impact on people, their needs, and enabling them to share experiences.
* Demonstrate empathy, compassion and patience.
* Have good communication skills (especially listening) and are organised.
* Enjoy meeting new people and being part of a team.
* Minimum age 16.
