Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Project Manager in the aerospace industry who can handle various responsibilities efficiently. The role reports to the MRO department and is based in Lee-on-the-Solent. Employment type: Permanent/Full Time. Salary: £45,000 - £55,000. Standard Hours: Flexible start / 40 hours per week. Location: Lee-on-the-Solent.
Key responsibilities include managing projects in the AeroTrac database system, forecasting delivery dates for milestones across departments, and ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery while coordinating design deliverables, parts procurement, and support to MRO and production teams during installation. You will act as the single point of contact for customers, provide regular reporting and communication, and build strong customer and supplier relationships. The role also involves external funding communications, project governance, adherence to commercial policies and procedures, and financial reporting of projects. You will introduce performance metrics, update project management policies, seek new opportunities, assist in bids and proposals, process orders, monitor market activity, and lead a team to meet company objectives. Emphasis on continuous learning, compliance with policies, regulations, and health and safety procedures is essential.
Responsibilities
* Track projects in the AeroTrac database system and forecast milestone delivery dates across Business Development, Commercial, Finance and Operations.
* Develop comprehensive project plans including assumptions, dependencies, schedules, risk registers, communication plans, change management, and monitoring.
* Ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery; coordinate design deliverables; liaise with parts procurement; and support MRO and production teams during installation.
* Act as the primary point of contact for customers; provide regular reporting and communications; build strong customer and supplier relationships.
* Manage external funding communications, project governance requirements, and adherence to commercial policies and procedures.
* Report expense variances and provide financial reporting for projects to maintain the cost budget.
* Introduce performance metrics for projects and continually update project management policies and procedures.
* Identify and pursue new opportunities; assist in bids and proposals; process orders in the database system; monitor market activity for opportunities.
* Lead and manage the project team to prioritise workloads and achieve company objectives; ensure compliance with health & safety and company policies.
* Foster continuous learning and compliance within the team.
Qualifications and Skills
* At least 2 years of experience as a Project Manager in a similarly sized business.
* Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
* Excellent organisational and multitasking skills; ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; fosters positive relationships and open communication.
* Experience using project management software and tools, including Microsoft Project or similar platforms.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Ability to achieve SC Clearance.
