Role Summary
Permanent, Part Time (0.7). The position is funded for the 2026/27 academic year onwards; successful candidates will not be expected to commence prior to August 2026.
South Thames College is seeking an experienced Electrical Installation lecturer to deliver outstanding teaching, learning, assessment, and tutorial support to students, supporting curriculum development and learner skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Create and implement innovative teaching, learning, and assessment within your area of specialism, including lectures, coursework marking, practical sessions, and field work.
* Plan, deliver, and assess high‑quality lessons, track and support student progress, ensure effective classroom management, and motivate diverse learners.
* Support curriculum development, engage with employers, and develop learner skill plans.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the current FE curriculum frameworks and quality standards, differentiating teaching to meet a wide range of learner needs.
* Manage workload, meet deadlines, and demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills.
Qualifications and Experience
* Teaching qualification (or working towards) and an electrical installation qualification.
* Recent UK teaching experience in electrical installation at an FE college.
* Proven ability to plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons.
* Good understanding of current FE curriculum frameworks and quality standards.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
Pay and Incentives
Up to £5 000 uplift (pro‑rata) for candidates with:
* Relevant vocational qualification (Level 3).
* Teaching qualification or willingness to complete.
* Relevant industry experience.
Further uplift up to £5 000 (pro‑rata) for candidates with:
* JIB ECS Card with approved Site Technician status.
* Additional qualifications in electrical installation (e.g. 2382 – 18th Edition).
* Assessor’s Award D32/33 or TAQA equivalent.
The successful candidate will be eligible for any salary increase resulting from the annual cost‑of‑living review implemented in the new academic year.
