Network Field Engineer – Contract
£400/day | Inside IR35 | Hybrid/Field-based (UK) (expenses covered)
We’re working with a major energy provider to bring in a Network Field Engineer to support a large, multi-site infrastructure. This role is all about improving connectivity, troubleshooting real-world issues, and helping stabilise network performance across complex, on-prem environments.
This is a 6 month contract to start, with a focus on hands-on, field-based support for network systems, covering multiple sites across the North of Engkand
What you'll be doing
* Troubleshooting site-level connectivity issues and working to resolve them quickly
* Supporting and maintaining Cisco switches, routers, and Fortinet firewalls
* Handling VPNs, VLANs, and firewall policies across distributed locations
* Collaborating with central IT/network teams to ensure configuration consistency
* Helping improve documentation, visibility, and resilience of local site infrastructure
What we’re looking for
* Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking equipment (CCNA level or above)
* Solid understanding of Fortinet (FortiGate) firewalls and security policies
* Confident with on-prem infrastructure, site-to-site VPNs, routing, and segmentation
* Able to work independently, prioritise issues, and communicate clearly with local site staff
* Willingness to travel to sites as needed (expenses covered)

* Location: Hybrid – remote support with field visits to UK sites/Must be based in North of England
* Contract length: 6 months initial (likely extension)
* Start: ASAP
