Software Engineer Integration Platform – Social Security Scotland
Overview
Join Social Security Scotland as a Software Engineer in the Boomi Integration Platform team. You will collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to deliver software components that support our vital social security systems. The Software Engineer role sits within the Chief Digital Office (CDO), which provides infrastructure and systems to support the wider social security programme and Social Security Scotland.
Responsibilities
* Develop software to meet user needs.
* Follow best practice guidelines and help to improve those guidelines.
* Write clean, secure and well-tested code.
* Coach and mentor more junior colleagues.
* Operate the services you build and identify issues in production.
* Manage service components to ensure they meet business needs and performance targets.
* Support activities to improve development processes and identify deficiencies.
* Participate in information security processes and design/implement embedded security controls.
* Design, code, test and document programs or scripts of medium-to-high complexity using standard tools.
* Establish and iterate design patterns; translate logical designs into physical designs; produce detailed designs.
* Maintain infrastructure tasks and build simple interfaces between systems; work on more complex integration as part of a wider team.
* Collaborate with user researchers and represent users internally; prioritise and guide approaches to understand user stories.
Essential Experience
* Your experience creating and maintaining Boomi integrations allows you to independently design, code, test and document programs or scripts of medium-to-high complexity using the right standards and tools.
* Your experience developing and deploying Boomi integrations enables you to help identify and fix faults and carry out maintenance tasks.

This role is aligned to General developer within the Digital, Data and Technology Profession. Skills will be tested during the Technical Assessment if successful at sift; review the Software developer - Government Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework for expectations.

Pay and Working Pattern
DDaT pay supplement of £5,000 annual (backdated to start date after a 3-month period). Standard hours are 35 per week with flexible and hybrid working options; minimum 2 days per week in office (Glasgow or Dundee).
