Overview

A vacancy at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This Health Care Support Worker (HCSW), Band 3 role is based on Kilverstone Ward, an acute cardiology ward. The HCSW will provide nursing care for patients with acute cardiac conditions and work closely with a team that includes Registered Nurses, other HCSWs, and members of the multidisciplinary team (Occupational Therapist & Physiotherapists).

Cardiology aims to maintain high standards of care. The department supports colleagues with full training and development for the successful applicant. Responsibilities

* Provide and maintain high standards of nursing care for patients with acute cardiac conditions within the hospital (e.g., care for patients post MI, pre & post procedures, heart failure, arrhythmias, pre & post cardiac surgery).
* Assist patients with personal care and consider their nutritional needs.
* Take observations routinely and post-procedural observations; maintain high standards of care and documentation.
* Work closely with registered nurses and other HCSWs; communicate clearly and effectively.
* Support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare; act as a role model and uphold the PRIDE values.
* Adhere to policies, participate in tasks and carry out instructions from registered professionals relevant to the area (e.g., blood collection for transfusion, preparation of equipment for theatres, collecting medications, equipment from other clinical areas).
* Participate in audits as required and develop self-awareness, resilience, relationship-building, self-care and adaptability.


Training and development

There are opportunities for extended learning such as HCSW study days and bespoke departmental study/training days; development opportunities exist in clinical skills and career progression within the department.
