Biomedical Scientist

Location: Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to support our Histopathology department. Experience and competence in Histopathology and ISO 15189 standards are required.
Main duties
* Provide scientific services to patients and customers supporting pathological diagnosis.
* Work with senior team members and support the management of documentation and overall performance.
* Play a role in the training and development of scientific staff.
Working pattern
Monday‑Friday 7am‑7pm and Sunday 8am‑4pm on a rotational basis.
Qualifications
* Relevant BSc Degree in Biomedical Sciences (or equivalent) acceptable for registration with HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist.
* State registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist.
* Evidence of CPD.
* Working towards IBMS Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology.
Knowledge
* Knowledge and experience of Quality Management Systems in pathology.
* Knowledge of the work of a Histopathology Department.
* Hospital laboratory experience in Histopathology.
* A sound understanding of basic physiology, pathology and scientific principles relevant to Histopathology.
Training and experience
* Experience operating, troubleshooting and maintaining complex laboratory equipment.
* Experience training BMS and MLA staff.
* Awareness of ISO 15189 standards.
* Experience using Q Pulse.
* Experience in service improvement within pathology.

Salary
£32,073 to £39,043 a year (Pro Rata)
