Assistant Clinical Psychologist - Liaison and Diversion

A fantastic and new opportunity has arisen within the established Liaison and Diversion Team, to provide The Community Sentence Treatment Requirements (CSTR) programme within Derbyshire.

CSTR aims to reduce reoffending and short term custodial sentences by addressing the health and social care issues of the offender.

The role will support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients with Community Sentence Treatment requirements (CSTR).

You will work as a member of the Community Liaison and Diversion Team providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed by a qualified clinical psychologist.

Main duties of the job

To deliver the therapeutic structured programme as required by the mental health treatment requirement of the CSTR.

To assist in the clinically related administration, audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Good Honours degree (2.1 or above) in Psychology
* Eligibility for Graduate membership of BPS
* Post graduate studies in relevant applied psychology


Experience

* Previous experience as an Assistant Psychologist
* Experience of working in Forensic settings
* Experience of delivering training
* Experience of delivering group or individual psychological work
* Experience of completing risk assessments
* Experience of using standard psychometric tests


Knowledge and Skills

* High level communication skills including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive
* Good interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with colleagues and other service providers
* Ability to communicate sensitive information to clients, carer and colleagues in a way that addresses psychological resistance
* Theoretical knowledge of relevant assessment and treatment models at a graduate level and ability to apply existing knowledge to working in a range of clinical settings
* Good written communication skills, with the ability to tailor these to varying contexts
* Ability to process text, set up and use databases and spreadsheets
* Knowledge and awareness of issues relevant to those individuals who have neurodiverse needs
