Location: Bristol (Abbey Wood) – Hybrid working (~3 days on site) Rate: Up to £400 per day (Inside IR35) Duration: Initial contract until 31/03/2026 Clearance: Active SC Clearance (Sole UK Nationals Only) Deadline: 12:00 on 28/11/2025 The Role We are recruiting for four (4) Safety Engineers to join the Land Systems operating centre. This is a Senior Technical Specialist (STSII) position. It is designed for a capable technical professional who can handle the "heavy lifting" of safety engineering—managing data, maintaining logs, and contributing to safety cases. You will sit within a dedicated engineering skill group, responsible for supporting the delivery of Acquisition Safety policy and solutions. You will play a key role in the through-life management of project safety risk, ensuring that equipment systems and services remain safe and suitable for Front Line Commands. Key Responsibilities Safety Data Analysis: Identify, collate, and evaluate technical safety data to support the maturity of project documentation and ensure successful technical outcomes. Hazard Log Management: Contribute to technical risk management activities, including the maintenance of hazard logs and the evaluation of risk reduction measures. Documentation & Artefacts: Support the generation, update, and review of safety artefacts and safety case reports for complex equipment types. Regulatory Compliance: Differentiate and comply with relevant safety legislation, regulation, and policy (including ASEMS and POSMS ) to deliver compliant technical documentation. Through-Life Support: Assist in safety decisions regarding through-life support, modifications, and eventual disposal/decommissioning of equipment. Collaboration: Collaborate with sub-system teams and specialists to ensure technical safety requirements are fully integrated. Skills & Experience Essential: Nationality & Clearance: Must be a sole UK National holding active SC Clearance. Safety Engineering Experience: Proven experience providing technical advice and delivering engineering outcomes within a safety-critical environment. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of System Safety Management, Safety Assurance, and Audit processes. Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with Defence standards (DSA regulations, ASEMS, POSMS) or equivalent standards in high-hazard industries. Qualifications: Hold a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) qualification at RQF Level 3 (e.g., ONC, A-Levels) or higher. Desirable: Professional Registration: Working towards Engineering Technician (EngTech) or Registered Science Technician (RSciTech). Domain Knowledge: Experience within Land Systems, Weapons, or similar complex engineering environments. The Offer Volume: We have 4 positions available ASAP. Rate: Up to £400/day (Inside IR35).
