You’ll support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as other learning difficulties such as Down syndrome, global delay, and ADHD.
About the School:
This welcoming and inclusive school provides an inspiring environment for students. Known for its inclusive community and nurturing atmosphere, the school encourages every student to reach their full potential. With a well-established SEN needs department and a dedicated team, the school fosters an environment where students thrive.
About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
1. Support students with ASD on a 1:1 and small group basis.
2. Implement personalised learning strategies for students who may be distant and hard to engage.
3. Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to create an inclusive classroom environment.
4. Use visual aids, Makaton, or PECS to support communication.
5. Encourage independence, build confidence, and manage behaviour positively and supportively.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
1. Has experience working with children with SEN, particularly ASD. We welcome applicants from outside of education with transferable skills such as residential childcare workers or carers.
2. Approaches challenges with patience, understanding, and resilience.
3. Is enthusiastic and proactive in helping young learners succeed.
4. Can build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
5. Holds a valid DBS check (or is happy to obtain one).
What We Offer:
1. A supportive and experienced SEN team to guide and inspire you.
2. A well-resourced learning environment with specialist SEN provisions.
3. Ongoing professional development and opportunities for career progression.
4. A warm, collaborative, and inclusive school community.
5. Convenient on-site parking and easy transport links.
