About the role
This is a really exciting opportunity to work within the team that delivers Public and Personal Training to the Officers and Staff of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. Using practical and communication methodologies and skills for subjects such as conflict management, self-defence and unarmed defensive tactics and the use of standard issue personal protective equipment to deescalate dangerous situations through to arrest and restraint tactics. This training is essential to ensure officers and staff are compliant to hold designated powers and are Licensed to Police under the national Policing guidelines and regulations
Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to;
* Design, deliver, assess and evaluate mandated, new and supportive learning materials, to meet the minimum standards outlined by the College of Policing PPST curriculum, to align with formal qualification frameworks and reflect National Occupational standards.
* Assess learners and report on the tactical ability of learners undergoing training in line with College of Policing Authorised Professional Practice and PPST curriculum to meet College of Policing and National Occupational standards.
* To carry out dynamic risk assessment on individual learners and venues to identify and mitigate any risk.
* Conduct, supervise, assess and report authorised fitness assessments (JRFT).
* Undertake and maintain CPD including: annual fitness tests; PPST Days 1, 2 refresher training as a student; online refresher training packages (e.g. Manual Handling, Health and Safety, GDPR); physical training/CPD in line with PPST curriculums outlined in the College of Policing Authorised Professional Practice licensing requirements
* Wear appropriate issued protective/safety clothing in order to carry out physical role-plays as aligned to College of Policing Trainer role

Additional requirements
Hours of duty are 37 per week, worked within a flexitime scheme. Primarily worked within the hours of 0800 – 1700 with training usually scheduled between 09:00 -16:00 (with potential for this to extend on initial packages or when requiring to travel to or from external venues). The working pattern will also include occasional evenings and weekend work, which will attract the appropriate allowances.
Occasional overtime may be required in line with force policies and procedures.
There is a requirement to wear a uniform and appropriate issued protective/safety clothing in order to carry out physical role-plays as
aligned to College of Policing Trainer role requirements.
Applicants must be physically active, in line with PPST curriculums outlined in the College of Policing Authorised Professional Practice licensing requirements.
Essential Qualifications
Educated to QCF Level 3 OR work experience deemed to have brought the role holder to a comparable level.
Possess a nationally recognised learning and development qualification plus proven experience e.g. Certificate in Training Practice, Level 3 Learning and Development (Learning & Development
Qualifications Curriculum Framework (QCF) 30 Credits minimum), or to have undertaken significant work related experience that may be deemed to have brought the
post holder to a comparable level.
Essential Experience
Able to demonstrate current competence in subject matter area.
Experience in Training needs analysis, design, delivery, assessment and evaluation of training.
Sound knowledge of law, policy and practice in the field of anti-discrimination (e.g. Equality Act 2010).
