To join our Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) you will need to meet these eligibility criteria:
1. be over 18 (you can apply at 17 and start work when you turn 18) – there is no upper age limit
2. be a British citizen, an EC/EEA national or a Commonwealth citizen or foreign national with no restrictions on your stay in the United Kingdom. You will need to have lived in the UK continuously for the past 3 years (unless a serving with UK armed forces)
3. be in good health, including fitness and eyesight
4. have no criminal record, although some offences may be considered which will be reviewed when you apply
5. obtained a level 3 qualification or able to demonstrate relevant experience or training that can be considered equivalent to a level 3 qualification
You will also be eligible if you meet one of these criteria:
6. you are an Essex Police member of staff, a PCSO or special constable who have passed their probationary period
7. you have a minimum of 3 years’ service with the armed forces and have achieved an exemplary reference on discharge
