Purpose
Reporting through the Senior Electronics Engineer, you are a member of the Electronics Team with personal responsibility to support the electronics team in the development of new products and the maintenance of existing ones as required.
You will manage your own workload to complete diagnostic, laboratory test and implementation activities within timescales required, monitoring and providing feedback on your progress whilst being prepared to proactively communicate exceptions to these timescales and related project plans if necessary.
You will be expected to understand the project and technical requirements in conjunction with both internal and external customers, to undertake the detailed electronic and electromechanical design activities required to translate these into a new product.
Main Duties
* Write product design and hardware specification documents to meet the requirements and all required standards.
* Design and develop hardware, including schematics and PCB layouts where required as per the specifications.
* To ensure that designs meet the required legislative requirements, carrying out relevant development, testing and debugging
* To understand product performance principles, identifying key specification issues and performance criteria in order to develop, demonstrate and carry out robust product functionality tests.
* To undertake air performance, vibration, acoustic noise and pre-approvals testing.
* To construct and evaluate test samples in conjunction with the technical teams.
* To understand and comply with the requirements of ISO 5801 for air performance testing.
* Follow and maintain the Engineering Change revision process.
* To create and work with additional data and documentation as required, including the use of an MRP database such as Zoho systems or similar.
* To plan, monitor, and control workload and progress, ensuring deliverables are achieved against agreed timescales. To provide detailed laboratory reports identifying product performance, operation and key functional information in accordance with the standards established by the business.
Skills and experience required:
* Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering/related subjects.
* 2 to 3 years of industry experience, desirable.
* Schematic capture, PCB layout and circuit testing for equipment design, EMC and LVD.
* Hands-on design, testing, fault finding and debugging of SMPS, power electronics, and associated analogue / digital electronic.
* Practical and technical knowledge of electromechanical principles, production and laboratory disciplines
* Design and familiar with circuits containing embedded processors, PWM, interface etc
* Design and familiar with Power supplies etc
* Ability to write comprehensive technical design documentation.
* Experience with manufacturing techniques and design for manufacturing concepts.
* Excellent hardware troubleshooting skills.
* Able to support/debug integrated systems.
* Ability to drive and affect project delivery
