You will work closely with theDirector of Communications and Engagement and line-manage the Communications Assistant.We are looking for someone proactive and able to put ideas into action, who is happydelivering day-to-day, alongside thinking strategically.
Thisrole will lead and deliver impactful communications and marketing initiativesacross general practice in BNSSG and beyond. You will be responsible fordeveloping and implementing a strategic communications and marketing plan thatsupports One Cares priorities and enhances member engagement.
Main duties of the job
Lead member communications and engagement strategies
Develop tailored, audience-focused content using insights and feedback
Champion two-way engagement through surveys, forums, and digitalplatforms
Shape One Cares marketing communications and campaigns
Create engaging content across all channels
Evaluate activity using data and insight
Act as primary contact for media enquiries
Develop storytelling opportunities to highlight impact and innovation
Monitor media coverage and advise senior leaders
Oversee website structure, content, and functionality
Ensure accessibility, brand consistency, and data protection compliance
Lead newsletters, GP bulletins, and regular communications
Develop integrated communications plans aligned with strategicobjectives

Job responsibilities
The Communicationsand Marketing Manager will lead the delivery of communications and marketingactivity that enhances One Cares reputation as the voice of General Practice.This role focuses on strengthening member engagement, building brand awareness,and managing One Cares external profile across key channels and audiences.
The Communicationsand Marketing Manager will work closely with the Communications and EngagementDirector, translating strategic priorities into effective communications plansand high-quality content. They will lead the day-to-day delivery ofcommunications activity, provide insight and evaluation to informdecision-making, and support reputation management and stakeholder engagement.This role will deputise for the Communications and Engagement Director and actsas a key operational partner, helping to ensure consistency, innovation, andimpact across all communications and engagement channels.
Workingcollaboratively across the organisation and with system partners, thepostholder will ensure the One Care brand is consistently applied andcommunicated effectively. They will oversee core channels including thewebsite, social media, newsletters, and news releases, and manage the DigitalCommunications Officer to ensure content is integrated, audience-focused, andaligned with organisational priorities

* Degree-level qualification in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field, or demonstrable equivalent professional experience.

* Proven experience in a communications, engagement, or public relations role, ideally within a complex or multi-stakeholder environment.
* Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences and channels.
* Experience in leading the planning, management and delivery of events
* Demonstrable experience of managing digital platforms, including websites and social media, with a focus on user experience and accessibility.
* Experience in media relations, including drafting press releases, handling enquiries, and building relationships with journalists.
* Track record of developing and delivering communications strategies that support organisational goals and drive engagement.
* Experience in brand management, including applying brand guidelines and developing brand assets.
* Knowledge of evaluation techniques to measure communications impact and inform continuous improvement.
* Professional membership of a relevant body
* Experience working in or with the NHS, primary care, or other health and care organisations.
* Understanding of the policy and operational landscape affecting general practice and primary care.
* Experience in event planning and delivery, including communications support for conferences, webinars, or stakeholder forums.
* Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Campaign Monitor).
